Mission

Our Mission is “to promote the profession and practice of Human Resources management in healthcare through development and collaboration.” 

Purpose

The purpose of the Association is to promote a better understanding and appreciation of sound principals of Human Resources management, which may be employed by its members for their mutual betterment and professional advancement.  Applicants for membership must be employed by a North Carolina healthcare organization and be primarily engaged in healthcare human resources.

Management Meeting

History

During the early winter of 1971, a group of healthcare personnel professionals met and discussed the possibility of forming an official and viable statewide association.  Membership applications were mailed during the spring of 1972, along with the announcement of the meeting, which would finalize the by-laws and formalize the Association. The first official meeting of the North Carolina Hospital Personnel Association was held in Chapel Hill in October 1972.  In the fall of 1973 the Association had grown from approximately 40 charter members to 55 members.  At the 1990 Fall conference in Wilmington membership voted unanimously to change our name to the North Carolina Healthcare Human Resources Association (NCHHRA).  Today, NCHHRA has over 100 active members, representing more than 70 healthcare organizations.

Creed

Our creed is “to provide assistance and guidance to other Association members upon request and to honor all confidence; to keep the Association free from partisan influence; to be willing to serve the Association in any capacity when called upon; and to maintain the high moral and ethical standards required of our profession.”  Our motto is “the most valuable asset of any healthcare organization is its employees.”

Code of Ethics

The NCHHRA Board and Members will:

 

  • Follow the ASHHRA leadership model.

  • Maintain the highest standards of professional and personal conduct.

  • Be good financial stewards.

  • Offer educational services relevant to HR practitioners in the healthcare field and in compliance with employment law.

  • Sponsor salary surveys that comply with the government anti trust requirements.

  • Monitor the NCHHRA website for appropriate content.

  • Give back to the community through philanthropic activities.

  • Maintain loyalty to the Human Resources profession by being an advocate for the employee and the company.

The NCHHRA is affiliated with the North Carolina Hospital Association (NCHA) and the American Society for Healthcare Human Resources Administration (ASHHRA).
